Snacks and Meals

Drinks

During the day, we encourage the children to regularly drink water.  Please ensure they bring a clear, plastic bottle of water with their name on into school.

Our School Milk Scheme

In conjunction with the Department For Education's new School Food Plan, our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all.  Milk is completely free for under 5s and subsidised for children 5 and over.  Each child will receive a portion of semi-skimmed milk every day, which is delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom.  The school milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting, it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused.

Please register your child for school milk by going to www.coolmilk.com, or ask at School Reception for a form.

Morning Break

During the morning, all children in EYFS and KS1 receive a piece of fruit at 'snack time' however, you may wish to put an additional piece of fruit in your child's bag in case they don't like what they have been offered.  Fruit tends to be seasonal and varied.

All other children are very welcome to bring a piece of fresh fruit or vegetables for morning break. No other item will be allowed to be consumed.

Dinner Time

Since September 2014, all Reception (Rainbows) children along with Years 1 & 2 are entitled to a free school meal.  This is cooked on the premises in our newly refurbished kitchen.  Please ask at School Reception for a current lunchtime menu.

Special Diet

If your child requires a special diet, please inform Mrs Cork in the school office who will be happy to help with liaising with the Head of Kitchen, to organise meals to meet your child's requirements.

Payment

Rainbows (Reception) children along with Years 1 & 2 are entitled to a free school meal.  Your child may also be entitled to get free school meals if you claim certain benefits. The cost of a school meal, is £2.35. We request that school dinner is paid via ParentMail.

Packed Lunch

You may prefer your child to have a packed lunch.  If this is the case, please ensure their lunch-box is clearly labelled with their full name.  Please note that we have a 'no nuts' policy in our school, therefore, please ensure that your child's lunch-box does not contain any items of food which contain nuts or traces of nuts e.g. Peanut butter, or coconut yoghurts.
