Governance

The name of the school is St. Pancras Catholic Primary School.

The school was founded by and is a part of the Catholic Church. The School is to be conducted as a Catholic school in accordance with Canon Law and the teachings of the Catholic Church, and in accordance with the Trust Deed of the Diocese of East Anglia and in particular: Religious education is to be in accordance with the teachings, doctrines, discipline and general and particular norms of the Catholic Church. Religious worship is to be in accordance with the rites, practices, discipline and liturgical norms of the Catholic Church. And at all times the school is to serve as a witness to the Catholic faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

In April 2019 St Pancras became a member of our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Multi-Academy Trust. The structure and committees of our Governing Body reflect the structure of the Trust Board.  The school has two committees of the Trust Board which both meet termly - Resources and Teaching, Learning & Standards.

The name of the governing body is: The Governing Body of St. Pancras Catholic Primary School.

 

The governing body shall consist of:

  • Six foundation governors
  • One Headteacher
  • One Staff governor 

The total number of governors is 8

 

Parent Governors: these are elected by parents of the children at the school - or they may be appointed by the governing body if no-one stands for election;

 

Foundation Governors: are appointed and may be removed by the Bishop of East Anglia (or any person exercising ordinary jurisdiction in his name, including, where the See is vacant or impeded, the person or persons on whom governance of the See has devolved).

 

Staff Governors: these are elected by the staff at the school and may cover both teaching and non-teaching staff.

 

The Headteacher: is a governor at their own school by right.

 

Associate Members: are not governors, and do not have a vote at full governing body meetings. However, they are entitled to attend those meetings and to be sent the papers for them.

 

“Governors have a legal responsibility to ensure that the school, in all its aspects, is managed and organised in the light of Christian values and the teachings of the Church.”
